Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father's divorce from the family members, she was brought up by her mother godparents and grandmother. While she was a small girl, Catherine Ford struggled with an obsessive compulsive disorder, and also suffered from anxiety due to the word association. Ford's love for acting grew in her early years. She joined in the National Youth Theatre. She gained admission to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but after just a few days, decided that she was a poor choice for this school. Ford instead applied to the Central School of Speech and Drama, finally winning an acceptance on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's fellow students. He would go on to have frequent roles on the show as Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford's debut on TV was a 1991 episode Surgical Spirit. By the time she graduated, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Tate was a part of such programs on television including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London Burning. She worked on stage regularly as well as a part of The Royal Shakespeare Company's 2000-2001 season. Tate was recognized for her comedy stand-up that has been added to her portfolio in 1996.
